Jammu is often called the 'City of Temples' and is a gateway to the paradise of Kashmir, a land rich in history, culture, and spirituality. Nestled against the backdrop of the Shivalik Hills, Jammu offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, religious significance, and vibrant local life. My recent visit to this enchanting city was an experience of divine blessings, scenic landscapes, and warm hospitality.


### The Road to Jammu


Jammu is accessible by road, rail, and air, so traveling here is easy. My journey began with a drive through green fields, winding roads, and breathtaking views. Upon entering the city, I saw the magnificent temples and markets bustling with activity. It was the perfect introduction to an experience I would never forget.


### Places to Visit in Jammu


#### **1. Vaishno Devi Temple**

The temple of Vaishno Devi stands to be one of the holiest places of worship in India, a destination for millions of devotees each year. Located in the hills of Trikuta, this sacred shrine requires about 13 kilometres of trek from Katra, both as a spiritual and adventurous journey.


#### **2. Raghunath Temple**

Located at the center of Jammu, Raghunath Temple is one of the beautifully crafted buildings on earth that symbolizes architecture and devotion. Dedicated to Lord Rama, this temple complex hosts several shrines and intricate carvings that make it a quintessential spiritual destination.


#### **3. Bahu Fort and Bagh-e-Bahu**

Bahu Fort is situated atop a hill, which provides a spectacular view of the Tawi River and the city of Jammu. Next to the fort is Bagh-e-Bahu, a well-maintained garden with fountains, flowers, and peaceful surroundings-a perfect place to unwind.


#### **4. Mubarak Mandi Palace**

A testimony to the royal heritage of Jammu, Mubarak Mandi Palace reflects a blend of Mughal, Rajasthani, and European architectural styles. Its courtyards, ceilings, and historical importance make it an exciting place to see.

Adventure sports here in Jammu are as follows:

Trekking: Mansar and Surinsar Lakes provide thrill-raising trekking options for beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings.

- **White-Water Rafting:** The Chenab River is a wonderful place for white-water rafting; one can imagine the fun of those thrill-seekers on the river.

- **Shopping:** Jammu city has markets with Kashmiri handicrafts, Pashmina shawls, and dry fruits. It is heaven for shoppers.

#### Best time to visit:


The best time to visit Jammu is during September to April because the climate here is nice enough for visiting. In summer, it gets very warm, whereas winters have that chill and frost which enhances the beauty of this city.


My visit to Jammu was a journey filled with spirituality, adventure, and cultural exploration. Whether you are a pilgrim seeking divine blessings, a history enthusiast uncovering architectural marvels, or an adventurer exploring scenic landscapes, Jammu has something to offer for everyone.
