Tabo is a place located in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh. It is an abode that exudes serenity and spirituality and is famous for its ancient monastery, rugged landscape, and cultural heritage. Tabo is often described as the 'Ajanta of the Himalayas' and thus provides a beautiful blend of history, spirituality, and breathtaking scenery. My visit to this quaint village was enriching.


**The Journey to Tabo**


The journey from Manali to Tabo was an adventure in itself, with winding roads, high-altitude passes, and mesmerizing views of the barren yet beautiful landscapes of Spiti Valley. As I reached Tabo, the calmness of the village and the stunning backdrop of the towering Himalayas instantly captivated me.


**Tabo Monastery**


The most memorable feature of my journey was the Tabo Monastery, which has been dated back to 996 AD. The beauty of the murals, the ancient frescoes, and exquisite stucco sculptures adorning the monastery gives a treasure house of Buddhist art and spirituality. As I wandered through its prayer halls and meditation caves, a deep sense of peace and reverence overcame me.

**Scenic Beauty and Tranquility


The landscape of Tabo is quite a mix of stark, arid mountains and lush green patches near the Spiti River. The ambiance of the peaceful village, in addition to crisp mountain air, was a much-needed escape from the din and chaos of mundane life. It was an unforgettable experience to sit and watch sunrise over the rugged peaks.


**Cuisine and Hospitality**


The hospitality of the people is warm and so welcoming. It made my visit to the place all the more memorable. I savored traditional Spitian dishes such as thukpa, momos, and local barley-based delicacies. Having meals with the friendly villagers has deepened my appreciation for their simple yet fulfilling lifestyle.


**Shopping for Unique Handicrafts


The small shops in Tabo sold beautiful handicrafts, including handwoven shawls, Tibetan jewelry, and religious artifacts. I could not resist buying a few souvenirs that reflected the essence of the region's rich heritage.


**Exploring Nearby Attractions**


A short trip from Tabo took me to nearby attractions like the Dhankar Monastery and the Pin Valley National Park. Each place added to the spiritual and natural charm of my Spiti adventure.
