 **A Mesmerizing Visit to Sonmarg: The Meadow of Gold**


Sonmarg is a paradise on earth that never fails to captivate travelers with its ethereal beauty, nestled in the breathtaking valleys of Kashmir. Sonmarg is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and those looking to escape into the serenity of the Himalayas. It literally means "Meadow of Gold" in the local language.


### The Journey to Sonmarg


From the summer capital, Srinagar, my sojourn in Sonmarg began. A journey that became a treasure on its own-with twisting roads and verdant green valleys and even the gushing river Sindh, which took us along throughout our journey-as we climbed into the heights that took us near Sonmarg. The breeze started to carry an icy breath as the horizon was filled with breathtaking views as the snowclad peaks kept calling out as if we are near our paradise.


Explore the Magical Beauty


As soon as I reached Sonmarg, I was overwhelmed with breathtaking sceneries. The vast meadows, with majestic mountains all around, were like a scene from an awesome fairytale. The place has many things to offer to the visitors to be done:


#### Thajiwas Glacier

One of the most popular attractions in Sonmarg, Thajiwas Glacier, is a stunning expanse of snow that remains accessible even during summer. A short trek or a pony ride leads visitors to this breathtaking glacier, where one can enjoy sledding, photography, and simply soaking in the panoramic views.


#### **Sindh River and Fishing**

The Sindh River flows through Sonmarg and boasts crystal-clear waters and full trouts. Fishing lovers can test their luck to catch trout in the scenic background.


#### **Adventure Sports**

Adventure lovers find Sonmarg a fantastic destination with adventure activities such as trekking, white-water rafting, and camping. The Vishansar and Krishansar Lakes are popular treks for offering exceptionally beautiful alpine scenery.


Being a year-round destination, the best time to visit Sonmarg is dependent on the type of experience sought. The best time for lush green meadows and adventure activities would be during the summer months: May to September, while snow enthusiasts would find Sonmarg a perfect winter wonderland between November and February.

My visit to Sonmarg was nothing less than magical. It provides an altogether pristine beauty, a serene environment, and really thrilling adventures.
