A Hidden Gem in the Mountains: **Yusmarg, a tranquil escape from the world.**

Yusmarg, in the heart of Kashmir, is a hidden gem that opens the doors for the traveler into a world untouched and unspoiled. Unmatched by its peers, including the more celebrated destinations of Gulmarg and Pahalgam, Yusmarg offers peace, seclusion, and stunning landscapes in its uncharted domain.

### The Journey to Yusmarg

Our journey to Yusmarg began from Srinagar - the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The drive, covering around 50 km, was nothing short of spectacular. As we left the crowded city behind, we were greeted by plush meadows, dense pine forests, and the crisp mountain air. This road takes you through charming villages wherein one gets glimpses of local life and the warm hospitality of the Kashmiri people.

### Exploring the Beauty of Yusmarg

Upon reaching Yusmarg, I was instantly captivated by its serene and untouched beauty. The rolling meadows, framed by dense forests and snow-capped peaks, looked like something out of a painting. The tranquility of the place was overwhelming, making it perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation.

#### **Doodh Ganga River**

One of the most beautiful locations in Yusmarg is Doodh Ganga River, named for milky white colour of water it flows through in the valley for a perfect photography and picnic view with absolute calmness.

#### Trekking and Nature Walks

For adventure lovers, Yusmarg has several trekking trails leading to breathtaking views and secret alpine lakes. One of the most rewarding treks is to Nilnag Lake, a pristine blue-water lake surrounded by towering pine trees. The trek, though moderate, is a fulfilling experience for nature lovers.

#### Horse Riding

Horse riding is the other most prominent activity in Yusmarg. Local guides take pony rides which take visitors through the meadows and into dense forests, showing them the majestic landscapes at leisure.

### Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Yusmarg is from April to October, when the meadows are lush and vibrant, and the weather is pleasantly cool. During winters, Yusmarg is covered in a blanket of snow, offering a completely different yet equally mesmerizing experience.

### Conclusion

My visit to Yusmarg was unforgettable. The untouched beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and warm local hospitality made it a perfect getaway from the chaos of daily life. From nature lovers and adventure seekers to people seeking quiet retreats, Yusmarg promises an experience that will stay with them forever. If you are planning a trip to Kashmir, then this is a must and you should not miss adding it to your itinerary!
