During my visit to this bustling city a few days ago, I had the pleasure of discovering what makes Indore truly special.

From the moment I stepped into Indore, I could feel the warmth of its people. Known for their hospitality, Indoreans take pride in their city and are always eager to share its rich heritage with visitors. Whether it was the friendly cab drivers or shopkeepers, everyone had a smile on their face and a welcoming attitude.

2. A Taste of Indore: The Food Haven
One of the first things you’ll hear about Indore is its food, and trust me, it’s no exaggeration. The city is a haven for food lovers, offering an eclectic mix of traditional and modern dishes. I started my day with a trip to Sarafa Bazaar, a popular nighttime food market that transforms into a food lover's paradise after dusk.

Here, I ate the most scrumptious stuff - poha, that is a light, tangy dish of flattened rice to sabudana khichdi, a savory dish made from tapioca pearls, with each bite full of flavors. But the show stealer was indeed the Indori sev puri - crisp puris topped with sev, a crunchy chickpea flour noodle, yogurt, chutney, and spices. The combination of textures and spices was divine!

Chhappal Wala Poha, which is said to be a one-of-its-kind poha prepared using a special combination of spices, served hot with a side of hot jalebi, and people are known to travel from different parts of the country just to taste it.
3. Explore History and Culture
Indore is not just about the food; it's a very historical city. My second stop was Rajwada Palace-a beautiful mix of Maratha and Mughal architecture. The large entrance, intricate wooden doors, and majestic courtyards transported me to a bygone era of indore royalty. The palaces stone and wood confluence speak to the architecture of the era.

Not too far from Rajwada stands the Lal Baag Palace, a rich mansion with sprawling gardens, ornate interiors, and many other things. It gives an interesting glimpse into the life styles of the Holkar kings who ruled this region when the region was still Indian. I walked through lavish decor, grand hallways, and beautiful fountains dotting the landscape there.

Another historical site must be visited is the Kanch Mandir-a Jain temple constructed entirely out of glass. The intricate work in glass, the vibrant reflections, and the stillness of the atmosphere provided a peaceful respite from the city's hustle and bustle.

4. The Vibrant Markets
Besides some famous bust markets, there are many street food shops at Indore for the enthusiastic shoppers. Along with delicious food, this place is also known to have the most energetic feeling. From morning till day time, the streets contain shops from traditional saree shops, jewelry shops to handicraft shops.

The other place that I really liked was M.G. Road, which is a line of stores selling the latest clothing, accessories, and souvenirs. If you are looking for something different, you can find some beautiful pieces of Indore's traditional handloom textiles, especially the famous Chanderi sarees.

During my visit, I visited some of the modern landmarks of the city like Indore's IIT campus, sprawling Nehru Park, and the newly developed Dewas Naka area. Indore is spiritually vibrant too. Annapurna Temple, for the goddess of food, and the abode of one of India's largest idols of Lord Ganesha-Bada Ganpati-have found peaceful moments there. Beyond tranquility, it signifies the deep-rooted traditions of the city as they are rooted in the age-old religious traditions.
7. Relaxation Near Rivers
To unwind, I took a peaceful walk along the Saraswati River. Indore is often called a city of lakes and rivers, and time spent near the water provided a refreshing break from the busy streets. The peaceful atmosphere and the beauty of the river made it the perfect place for reflection and relaxation.

Indore is a city that is constantly changing.
